CAARC is in the process of building out a robust emergency VHF/UHF network This will take several months and and requires financial support. Ultimately we will have wide geographic coverage with several repeaters. The footprint will extend from Chelsea to Tuscaloosa, Clanton, Alexander City and near Huntsville. All the repeaters will be linked together without dependency on the internet.
Currently the 147.020 repeater is functioning quite well from its location on Oak Mountain near Hwy 280. A second repeater 444.300 is located in Vandiver. These repeaters are not linked yet. The current plan calls for at least four additional repeaters in the network.
This network provide a communications vehicle for use during weather or other emergencies. As the network expands the service area also expands.
Stay tuned for updates as the network expands.
